History

Presentation

 GCC is the successor to the Civil Engineering department of the EI group, a national independent group specialised in Electrical engineering.

 

  • 1906 :

    Creation of the company "L’Energie Industrielle" by Pierre-Marie DURAND. This company gradually became the leading French electricity provider in the private sector.

  • 1921 :

    Engineering department converted into a subsidiary known as "L’Entreprise Industrielle (EI)"

  • 1946 :

    « L’Energie Industrielle » is taken over by the State and becomes EDF.
    L’EI remains independent and is entrusted with a high proportion of construction works for dams and hydroelectric plants throughout France.

  • 1947 - 1952 :

    L’EI constructs the dam in Tignes.

 

  • 1950 - 1996 :

    The Génie Civil et Construction (GCC - Civil engineering and construction) department of l'EI  is assigned increasing numbers of large public works and construction projects (airport runways at CDG 1, the Opera house in Lyons, construction projects for high speed train links connecting Lyons, North France and the Mediterranean area, offices at La Défense in Paris, hospitals, high schools and shopping malls, etc.)

  • 1996 :

    This department became a subsidiary known as EIGCC

  • 1999 :

    The directors of EIGCC decided to opt for independence while the electrical activities of "l’Entreprise Industrielle" were acquired by the SUEZ group and renamed INEO.

 

  • 2000 :

    EIGCC launched a policy for external growth aiming to cover the territory with a network and reinforce local commercial synergy.
    GTBA (Grands Travaux du Bassin Aquitain - Large works in Aquitaine), based in Bordeaux, became a subsidiary of EIGCC.

  • 2001 :

    EIGCC acquired the assets of a company from the Lyons area, Jean NALLET, and created SNJN.

  • 2003 :

EIGCC acquired the assets of a company from the Grenoble area, CUYNAT Constructions, and created SN CUYNAT Constructions.

  • 2004 :

EIGCC became GCC.

  • 2005 :

    GCC acquired the assets of BALDESSARI, based in Montauban, and created SN ME BALDESSARI.

  • 2006 :

    LE COUILLARD Constructions, based in Lannion, joined GCC.

  • 2007 :

    MALLET BTP, based in Clermont Ferrand, joined GCC.

  • 2008 :

    MORINI, based in Nevers, joined GCC.

  • 2008 :

    GCC acquired the assets of BATIR 2020, based in Bourg de Péage and created SN BATIR 2020.
